What is a peep? Peeps are a modern miracle of science that bring joy to the world in colorful animal shapes. You can choose bunnies or rabbits in a variety of unnatural neon colors. With just a couple peeps you get the same jolt as two cups of coffee. There is more sugar in one peep than my grandma had in junior high. There is absolutely nothing healthy about a peep but they are amazing. Why do we only get to enjoy these taste marvels once a year? Jenny is the only other member of the band that shares my appreciation for these sugar colored gelatin substances. She is also the only other band member that is right on this matter. Hope you all had a happy Easter, and I hope you had some peeps!

I can’t say I had any peeps this year, as for some reason we skipped the whole “chocolate, eggs, baskets” thing. I guess the kids are getting older and didn’t really care, and I’m still on my “cruise in 3 weeks” diet. If the peeps were in the house, I would eat them, even though I find the crunchy sugar with the marshmallow consistency not much to my liking, but sugar is sugar, and I have a hard time resisting.
I’m afraid I’m going to have to join the other 3 members on this matter. I was never really a fan of peeps. In my eyes, they are the candy corn and fruitcake of Easter… No one actually wants them, and no one’s ever sure why they bought them… it just feels like you haven’t fully celebrated the holiday without them.
I will admit though, we should open up a chain of year-round holiday treat grocery stores. We can sell all these things and also stuff like girl scout cookies all year round.
We’re still waiting on baby news!
Hey I think peeps are the best and are so good!!!!!!!!and i did have some this year the best ever i had so many!!!!!
I think this blog is hilarious and very well-written. I especially loved the comment about your grandma’s sugar intake in junior high. The grandma references are a sure way to make me laugh. Thanks!
This is actually the first year I didn’t have any peeps – my mom always makes sure I have at least a box, but I guess she didn’t feel like getting to the post office. And they are available year round, just in the shape of pumpkins (halloween), snowmen (christmas), etc. Not quite the same, but tasty anyway!
I don’t really like peeps…however my mom will get peeps, open the box, and let them sit out for a week or so until they get stale, and then, and only then will she eat them.
So, do you like your peeps stale or fresh?
Peeps are awesome!
They are better after being left open for a few hours. We bought 15 boxes this year!!!
I was just scrolling down the blog list and came across this. I find this very well-written. It’s definitely something I would put on my blog! (But, no, Ryan stole it. Oh well!)
My dad used to tell us that, as soon as we opened up our packages of peeps, we needed to bite off their heads. Otherwise, they would sit in our baskets and peep all day and all night and nobody would get any sleep. So, every Easter, we would have 30 headless peeps just sitting there, waiting to be enjoyed. Oh the things we believe when we’re to little to know the difference.
