Well, the first show of the tour is done. We played last night in Billings, Montana at our first arena show for about seven thousand people and it was crazy! Right before we were going to go on I was freaking out, there were SO many people. But we played great and everything went smoothly.
So now I’m sitting in a McDonalds the morning after having some coffee and thinking things over. I’ve been praying this morning and every thought just seems to come back to me saying, “thank you, thank you, thank you”. That we get to play on this tour, that we are getting to do what we love for a living, that we’ve been given an opportunity that we all want to make the most out of.
MercyMe’s tour manager Joel read a passage before we went on yesterday. It’s talking about John the Baptist preparing the way for Jesus and it says, “He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light” (John 1: 8). He was saying the point of all these shows, all the lights and big production are not to bring glory to any of the bands but to point to a God who is bigger than any of us.
Isn’t that what we strive for – to be able to say I can’t do it myself, I can’t have hope on my own, I can’t live a forgiven life in and of myself? I want to live in a way that points to a God who is the light, who does give hope and peace and rest that I can’t find on my own.
Alright, time to go pack and head out to Seattle, see ya next time!

Hope to see you in Seattle tomorrow night! It’s a school night though so we’ll see. Either way may God bless you and your ministry. Your music blesses our family.
Keep on pointing!!!
You guys did a great job of courageously stepping out on stage and surrendering every ounce to God. Thank you for genuine humility in Christ. By the way, God woke me up at 4am to pray that you’d “lose yourselves in Him” on this tour. I think I saw that last night…
